About Rebecca Flores, LPC
Hi! I’m Rebecca Flores.
I help sensitive women work through trauma, so they can feel good enough again, move away from people pleasing tendencies, and feel more empowered in their lives.
Therapy for Highly Sensitive Women
Growing up was difficult. Life wasn’t always as calm and nurturing as you needed. You were often told you were “too sensitive” or “too” this or “too” that. This type of pressure made you feel like you didn’t belong. It’s not that you don’t like being a unique person but part of you really longs to feel like you do belong.
You’ve been through tough experiences but you’ve always been able to push through those times. Until now. You’re wondering why it’s so tough right now.
You’re running on empty and feeling drained.
You put others first to a fault. It’s hard to say “no.” You feel guilty all the time. You feel like you have to be perfect and you have to please everyone. You come second no matter what. You don’t want to be a pushover and you want to put yourself first but you feel selfish if you do that. You don’t say when things bother you, until they really bother you and you hold things inside.
You don’t like conflict and know that boundaries are important but you’re having trouble keeping them in place because you don’t want to be confrontational.
Your energy is wiped, you’re feeling like you’re just not good enough no matter what you do. You don’t want to care what others think, but you don’t feel like you’re good enough for others either.
You’ve Hidden Things Well
No one can tell because outside looking in, you hold it all together, as you always have. But it’s getting harder and harder to do so. Something has changed making it harder for you to keep things at bay.
You feel like you’ve lost the happy moments, your vibrancy, and your confidence is at an all time low. You’re burnt out, and your mind is working overtime, leaving you exhausted. You’re not sleeping and you feel like such a burden. The guilt is eating you up inside and you don’t even always know or understand where that’s coming from. You just wish you could turn it all off and unplug from what’s happening.
I’m here to help.
Being a sensitive woman is an unspoken language all on its own, and I speak this language. What you’re going through isn’t easy and can make you feel like you’re in a race where you just can’t compete. It can make you feel isolated and alone. But you can feel better. You’re not alone. You can get back on track and I’m so glad you’re here. I mean it.
What Will Therapy Be Like?
Therapy is personal and as a therapist for sensitive women, I want you to feel like therapy is a safe space for you.
Therapy is a place for you to gain a sense of control over the anxiety and overwhelm. It's a place where you get to get back a sense of calm and have a sense of contentment, just for you, again in your life.
In the past, clients have said they feel heard and understood which has helped them start to heal.
They've also shared they find my approach to be warm and benefit from the results they experience in therapy.
I sprinkle humor into sessions (when appropriate!) and am honest, yet gentle in my approach. You'll always have a say in therapy but I know when clients just need me to step in. I strongly support my clients in their work, and make no room for judgment in sessions.
I know how much you’ve been judging yourself enough already.
Past clients who've had success with me in therapy are those who know there isn't one specific therapy, coping skill, or medication that will be a "cure." They're willing to get to the root of what's going on.
How Long Will Therapy Take?
It's natural to want relief now. Why wouldn't you? We can all search the internet for coping skills but therapy with me isn't just about coping skills. They have their place and time but my approach to therapy is at a deeper level. I'd rather you get to the heart of things now, so this won't constantly return.
MY APPROACH
I’m a sensitive, warm, and spirited woman who speaks your language as a sensitive person.
I help those who are experiencing difficulty with overwhelming worry, anxiety, sadness and depression, feelings of guilt, difficulty in relationships, not feeling good enough, codependency/people pleasing, shame, and burden from past trauma.
What makes me different, is I’ve been told I can make most anyone feel at ease and my sense of humor helps, despite the nature of what brings men and women to therapy. Previous clients have shared that it’s easy for them to let their guard down with me.
There is nothing you can bring to therapy that will shock me.
I believe in:
People. You have the ability to work through difficult experiences, grow, and change. I believe that even though therapy takes time, work, and effort if we are patient, it can happen. I see it happen all the time, and it is magnificent to witness the transformation in former clients. It takes so much courage to seek out therapy and finding the right therapist is really, really tough. But with perseverance you can find the right therapist because there are so many of us out there in the world.
I value:
Kindness, empathy, compassion, integrity, humility, tolerance, determination, and treating others with warmth and respect.
I’m about:
Inclusion. Cultural sensitivity. Compassion. Diversity. Love for humanity.
In my free time, you can find me:
Hiking with my sweet dog, hanging with my two rescue cats, going to Barre, class, digging into my spirituality, spending time with the people I love dearly, and taking art classes.
Daily rituals:
It’s important to me to try to find time to recharge in the quiet. I try to find time to journal, drink some good tea, practice mindfulness and meditation, and take space to find out what I’m grateful for because life is noisy for the sensitive, and the world is ever-changing.
